PREMIER SOCCER ACADEMY
Invite expressions of interest; For the first time since the PSA tours began, players from the UK are invited to be included in the PSA touring squad. The decision to open up the tours to players in the UK has been made following discussions between PSA Academy director Steve Murray and Jeff Haydon who represents the PSA in England. “We are inundated each year with requests from all over the world from players who want to tour with us, Jeff and I have talked about opening the tours up as there are many players in the UK who have never been given the opportunity to gain this kind of experience” said Murray. The PSA have always tried to give the players a good all round experience making sure that the players experience the big clubs and the smaller clubs who are the back bone of English Football. Previous tours have included matches against, CHELSEA, WESTHAM UTD, IPSWICH TOWN, TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS, CHARLTON ATHLETIC, NORWICH CITY, LEICSTER CITY, PETERBOROUGH UTD, WALSALL, WYCOMBE WANDERERS, CAMBRIDGE UTD, NORTHAMPTON TOWN, CAMBRIDGE UTD, CAMBRIDGE CITY, CONCORD RANGERS, The PSA intend to hold various Clinics/Camps in the South East of England which Jeff Haydon will organize this will help to identify players who they feel have the ability to be part of a touring squad. As in previous years Australian players would be expected to form the nucleus of the squad and naturally Australian players are
encouraged to contact Steve Murray in Brisbane with regards to Trials for the 2005 UK Tour. Ipswich Town as in previous years is the focal point of the tours. The squad will be based in Ipswich for the tour and travel to and from Ipswich to play other top academies over a 2-week period. In the past five years, 4 touring PSA players have been offered scholarships with Ipswich Town FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Northampton Town FC, and Peterborough United FC. In 2003 Shane Huke, who toured with the PSA was the first PSA player to be signed as professional with Peterborough United. Many of the 75 players who have toured with the PSA have been invited back to trial with the professional clubs and although they were unsuccessful in gaining a scholarship, the experience these players have gained is invaluable. Player between the ages of 15-18 are invited to contact Steve/Jeff NO LATER THAN March 2005.
