19th July
This was the classic game of two half's. Toro started fast and sharp catching JPC cold in the opening minute and then JPC gifted Toro a second goal 8 minutes later, unbelievably JPC found themself 5 - 1 down at half time. " I could not believe the naivety we showed in defence for the first 2 goals. I thought the penalty awarded against us for the
third goal was very harsh and we just lost all concentration after that "said Muzza.
At half time 2 changes where made to JPC which saw Charles and Midge replace Becks and Gus, " we had only lost 3 games all season and this one was following a similar patter, we where playing some very good football but to many players where losing their personal battles all over the field, add to that, a distinctive lack of communication and it is obvious what is
going to happen" said Muzza. The changes and halftime sparked JPC into action. Toro then had to contented with wave after wave of JPC pressure. JPC pulled 2 more goals back and had one goal ruled off side. All the way to the final whistle it looked as if JPC where going to pull the game back and at least get a draw, however it wasn't to be and Toro came away with all 3 points. " We
got out hustled in the first half and lacked leadership. That forced me into taking of my captain (Beck's) and (Gus) the most skilful player I have ever seen at this age, who is struggling with the physical side of the game. In the end some very poor decisions from the linesman killed us off, but we only have ourselves to blame for the first half madness. I was very happy with the way the lads responded in
the second half and if they have not learned a valuable lesson from this then they never will. Jason was man of the match, at the start of the secound half he was the one who fired up first and that set the tone for the next 45 minutes" said Muzza.
