NIGHT OUT AT THE "GUNNERS"
Peterborough United U19 youngsters & former PSA players Shane Huke & Craig Thompson have had a week they will remember for the rest of their lives, The Two players were called up for the 'Posh' Reserves to play in a friendly against Premier League champions Arsenal. The match was played behind closed doors at the Gunners training ground Tuesday evening. The youngsters were certainly not phased by the big occasion & gave a very good account for themselves. Both players got 45 minutes each, the result ending up 4-2 in favor of the Gunners. Craig Thompson signed with Posh 12 months ago after touring with PSA 2001 & has since been a regular at the back for the U/19s. Shane toured with PSA September 2002 but due to problems with his clearance & Soccer Australia his chance at Posh has only come late in the season, but the 17 year old formerly of Rochedale Rovers, Brisbane has done extremely well in his short time at London Road. He now holds a regular spot in the centre of the midfield for the U/19s. His consistant good performances for the POSH youth team's have earned him 4 appearance for the reserves including Norwich City & now the match on Tuesday against Arsenal. I caught up with both players today at London Road & Speaking with them after today's 2-2 draw with Brentford, both agreed Tuesday night is definitely one for the scrap book & are hoping this will be just one of many highlights ahead of them. The Gunners line up was as follows. Shabaan Lauren Cygan Luzhny Cole Thomas Parlour Edu Bentley Bergkamp Kanu Shane Huke will be featured in "Up Close & Personal" in the coming week. Jeff Haydon.
