ANNUAL PRE – SEASON COACHING SEMINARS

 The Return of Geoff Pike.

The PSA are proud to announce that Geoff Pike will be our special guest coach conducting the January-February Seminars. The feedback Steve received from Geoff’s last visit was very positive. “ I like to take a couple of weeks off just after New Year, as it is quiet around the Pro Academy’s in the UK at this time. Steve invited myself and my wife back to Brisbane again this year and I had no hesitation in accepting the invitation. My wife and I enjoyed our visit last year and we are looking forward to coming back. The seminars that we are planning are devised by Steve and myself & to work around what we feel will most benifit the coaches that are likely to attend, I must stress that I am not doing this through the PFA and receive no money from Steve or the Premier Soccer Academy, I understand what Steve is trying to do and am happy to help as a friend” said Geoff.

Geoff has been a UEFA, coaching instructor and examiner for 5 years working for the PFA (The Professional Footballers Association) in England. He works closely with top Premier League clubs and lower division clubs in the south east of the country from Chelsea and Arsenal to the likes of Ipswich Town, Gillingham, Millwall, Peterborough United and Orient.

Geoff was Steve Murray’s instructor when he gained his UEFA ‘B’ Coaching License in 2001. “Geoff really made you feel at ease on the course. We all got the feeling that we where going to be judged on our own merit’s and not whether we where part of any particular system or organisation, we where never asked to demonstrate anything he had not already demonstrated” said Steve.

Part of Geoff’s job with the PFA is to run courses for Pro’s who are coming to the end of their playing days and want to stay in the game. His background as a player (400 games for West Ham and FA cup winner along with spells at Orient and Notts County) has helped him encourage ex players to stay in the game as coaches.

Geoff took time out to watch the PSA’s 2002 squad play his former club West Ham and Charlton in September. “I thought the lads played well, 2-1 up at half time against the Hammers is not something many top academy’s can boast and the 4-2 final score line was no disgrace.

The PSA Together with Peninsula Power and Rochedale Rovers Soccer Clubs, These seminars are run as a NON PROFIT MAKING EXERCISE.
