LIMO UPDATE..
Anthony "Limo" Limbrick joined us as one of the oldest players to be involved with PSA at the grand old age of 20, Limo was playing his football with Brisbane Force back in Australia, their he linked up with Steve Murray & was soon on his way to the UK. On arrival trailed at Cambridge City. They were impressed & keen to sign him, but unfortunately as in most cases at lower league clubs if the budget has been depleted & finances are not available a signing will not happen regardless of the quality. Not giving himself time to dwell on the disappointment Limo fronted up at Billericay Town FC. "Who the hell are Billericay Town?" you may ask. Billericay Town are a club East of London & are currently sitting 3rd in the Ryman Premier League, just below Yeading. (If you follow the FA cup you may have heard of Yeading & there recent heroic efforts against Premier League Giants Newcastle United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup).
Billericay Town are a fulltime outfit with a small squad of 20 senior players, training 4 days a week & 2 evenings. If you ask Limo what was the biggest reason for him going to this club he will undoubtedly tell you it is the quality of the training & coaching staff. He is fortunate to be working under one of the most exciting, up & coming young new coaches in the game... Justin Edinburgh, Justin is the former Tottenham Hotspurs Left Back. Billericay is his first managerial position & he has been very happy with Limo since his arrival at the club. So much so that he has included him in his fulltime training squad.
Limo made his first appearance for Billericay late November 2004, playing in a trial game against Southend Manor in the Floodlight Cup, it took nearly 20 minutes before Limo was to get a touch of the ball but when it came it was in the way of a goal. Not a bad start for the new boy playing in a unfamiliar left sided midfield roll, his regular position is Left back.
This weekend Billericay were involved in the FA trophy 3rd round tie against Exeter City & Limo was included in the squad, Exeter created football history last week by holding Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, the replay is Wednesday night, therefore Exeter playing Billericay before such a big game put the round into the media spotlight & the game had media attending from all over including Sky Sports. The game ended 2-2, Exeter scoring twice literally minutes from fulltime. So it will be a midweek trip down to the heart of Devon for Limo's Billericay Town FC. "In my experience when assisting Aussies who come to the UK for football, they all have great intentions on arrival but soon have trouble adapting to living & playing football here. This however has not been the case with Limo, he has a great attitude, he has been very positive & focused on his goals. Conditions for training & playing in the UK can be extreme at times, particularly in these winter months but he never complains he just gets on with it". (Well....Only after I have had to push him out of my nice warm car when dropping him off at training). JH. |
