JULY 27....Wilston Athletic Soccer Club is preparing itself for one of its biggest days after qualifying for the final of the Brisbane Men's Football metro cup last week.

The Beninca Oval-based club defeated Old Bridge 2-1 at Elder Park last Tuesday to book their spot in the final where they will meet the winner of the other semi-final between Regents Park and Park Ridge.

Senad Catic and Brian Sexton put Athletic two goals up before halftime but Old Bridge hit back in the second term to ensure a tense finish to the match.

Wilston secretary Carlos Ferreira said making the final for the first time in the club's history was a significant achievement.

``It's going to be a big day for the whole club, we'll be trying to get the juniors involved and will be having a cup breakfast at the club before heading off to the game.''

The Metro Cup final is on Sunday, June 30 with Perry Park the likely venue.
