IPSWICH TOWN U/18S
FA YOUTH CUP WINNERS 2005 22.30hr 22-4-05 Ipswich Town 1 - 0 Southampton (3-2ag) The Tractor Boys clinched the FA youth cup trophy in the dying minutes of extra time this evening. 15 year old Substitute Edward Upton blasted the ball into the back of the net from 25 yards out to break the deadlock after 209 minutes of FA cup final football. The first leg at St Marys ended in a 2 -2 draw bringing the 2nd leg to Portman Road in a deadlock. It looked like this game was destined for Penalties before the youngster making his U/18s debut won it for the blues 3 minute from time. Upton was only called into the squad late due to mounting injury problems for Brian Klugs academy youngsters. It is the first time the club has won this trophy after 30 years of trying. I am sure the players who have toured with PSA will be familiar with the surroundings at Ipswich Town & will know just how deserved the club are of this win. Congratulations to everyone at the club.
