JOHN PAUL COLLEGE  5  - 1  BRISBANE CITY

John Paul College maintained second spot on the ladder with 5-1 drubbing of Brisbane City on Sunday. JPC quickly wiped out the memory of the early season 5-3 defeat by City with 3 goals in the first twenty minutes. Duc opened the scoring when he beat the offside trap to place the ball wide of the keeper for his 13th goal of the season. In the fifteenth minute Terry brushed aside several challengers to hammer home another unstoppable shot from 30 meters and five minutes later raised his game total to 2 and his season tally to 8 when he ran on to a delightful Duc through ball to score. Brisbane City reduced the deficit to two late in the first half but trailed JPC at the break.

The pattern was repeated in the second half with JPC constantly attacking the City goal and it was not long before Danny netted from close range after Duc’s shot had rebounded off the bar. The bar saved City when Inji rattled it with a trademark left footer but it was Driton Xhemajlaj who would round off the goals for the game with number five. Even when Beckam was dismissed after a second yellow card offence Brisbane City could not manage to increase their influence on the game as JPC cruised to victory.

Little Saviola was superb in midfield and earned himself another man of the match award with a tireless display against a frustrated opposition nearly twice his size.
