July 9th
Souths 2 v 4 JPC
JPC extended their winning streak to 8 games and maintained second spot on the ladder with a hard fought victory over an improved Souths outfit. JPC twice took the lead only to have their advantage wiped out a few minutes later. Duc opened the scoring with his 14th goal of the season when he breezed past the Souths offside trap to finish with clinical precision, however Souths equalized with a free header when a
corner kick went unchallenged at the near post. It was 1-1 at half time and in the 51st minute JPC took the lead again when Gus put Savi through for his 5th goal of the season but defensive arrogance allowed the home side to level the score a few minutes later. JPC took the lead for a third time when Gus
scored after some clever work from Savi and Jason. It was not until the 89th minute that JPC secured all 3 points when McGregor put Duc away and his unselfish pass presented Xhemajlaj with the easiest of chances. JPC’s next fixture on July 20th is the much-awaited return clash with league leaders Toro at JPC.
