JOHN PAUL COLLEGE 3 -1 NUDGEE COLLEGE

Man of the Tournament
Jong Pill Young
 (saviola)

JPC booked a place in the final by winning their group stage with one game left to play, having won all four of their previous group matches the final group match had become a formality, so Steve Murray decided to change the formation and tactics so as not to give the watching Nudgee team any prior warning of what to expect. JPC lost 5-1, enough said!

The final was a heated and passionate affair with Nudgee taking the lead from a  free kick on 20 minutes. By this time JPC had squandered enough chances to have been well on top with Hyun Woo Lee, one of JPC's 3 strikers posing the Nudgee defence one or two problems.

5 minutes into the second half Nathan Evens was sent on and within 5 minutes began to turn the match around Nathan charged onto a ball played into the box and calmly side footed it past the keeper 1-1.
The pressure was now beginning to tell on Nudgee who had only managed 2 real efforts on the JPC goal all game when Chl Kang arriving late on the back post headed home to put JPC 2-1 up.
Chance after chance came and went for JPC to kill the game off however with 10 minutes still on the clock Nathan delivered a perfect through ball that split the defence and sent Young Deuk Seo through one on one with the keeper, taking full advantage of the bounce Deuk chipped the advancing keeper to make it 3-1.
" I was very happy with the way the lads handled the challenge I set them this week, I changed our formation and tactics. I wanted to use this comp to see how the players dealt with it and I was very happy with our overall performance. Both Brian Chessman (assistant coach) and I felt that Jong Pill Young (saviola) was man of the tournament, he listened to instructions very well and as always ran his heart out for the team" said Murray
